How to Add Safe Senders and Ensure Important Emails Reach Your Inbox in Dreamhost Webmail

Managing your email effectively means ensuring that important messages don't get lost in spam filters. Dreamhost Webmail offers several ways to ensure emails from trusted sources always arrive in your inbox. Follow the steps below to manage your safe senders list, set up filters, and allow listings.

  1. Add to Contact List:
    1. Log in to your Dreamhost Webmail account.

    2. Click on the Address Book tab at the top of the page.

    3. Locate the Add Contact button, and click it.

    4. Enter the email address of the sender you want to add, along with any other information you wish to associate with this contact.

    5. Save the contact. Emails from this address are now less likely to be marked as spam.

  2. Set Up Email Filters:
    1. From the main webmail page, go to Settings found in the top menu.

    2. Select Filters from the left-hand sidebar.

    3. Click on Add Filter.

    4. Name the filter, for example, Important Senders.

    5. For the rule, select From and enter the sender's email address.

    6. Set the action to Keep in Inbox.

    7. Save the filter. Now, messages from this sender will bypass the spam filter and go straight to your inbox.

  3. Add to Safe Senders or Allowlist:
    1. Return to the Settings menu.

    2. Look for an option labeled Spam/Virus or Whitelist/Blacklist.

    3. Find the Allowlist or Safe Senders section.

    4. Enter the email address you wish to add and click Save or Add.

    5. The email address is now allowlisted, reducing the chance of emails being flagged as spam.

Helpful Tips

  • Ensure that you regularly update your contacts and filters to accommodate new important email addresses or remove old ones.

  • Occasionally check your spam or junk folders to identify any important messages that may not have been filtered correctly. Moving these to your inbox may also help prevent future errors.
