How to Add Safe Senders in MSN (Hotmail)

Are you missing important emails in your MSN (Hotmail) inbox? Adding trusted contacts to your safe sender list can help prevent them from being mistakenly marked as spam. This guide will walk you through the process of adding safe senders and creating filters to ensure you never miss critical emails again.

  1. Add the Sender to Your Contact List:
    1. Open your web browser and navigate to Outlook.com (previously Hotmail).
    2. Log in with your MSN (Hotmail) credentials.
    3. Click on the People icon (usually in the lower-left corner).
    4. Select New contact.
    5. Enter the email address and any other details of the sender you wish to add and click Create.
  2. Add the Sender to the Safe Senders List:
    1. In Outlook.com, click on the Settings gear icon on the top-right corner.
    2. Click on View all Outlook settings at the bottom.
    3. Navigate to Junk email under the Mail section.
    4. Under Safe senders and domains, click Add.
    5. Type in the email address or domain you want to mark as safe and press Enter.
    6. Ensure to Save your changes.
  3. Create an Email Rule to Filter Incoming Messages:
    1. Access Settings and select View all Outlook settings.
    2. Go to the Rules tab under the Mail section.
    3. Click Add new rule.
    4. Enter a name for your rule.
    5. Under Add a condition, select conditions like From and enter the email address.
    6. Under Add an action, choose Move to and select the Inbox.
    7. Click Save to apply the rule.
Tip: Regularly check your Junk Email folder. If you find important emails there, right-click on them and choose Mark as not junk to potentially train your email filter better.
