How to Ensure Important Emails Reach Your Inbox in ProtonMail

In ProtonMail, making sure that emails from important contacts are never missed involves adding them to your contact list, setting up filters, and allowing specific senders. This guide will walk you through the steps to ensure your important emails are delivered directly to your inbox.

Steps to Add Safe Senders in ProtonMail

  1. Log in to your ProtonMail account:

Open a web browser and navigate to mail.protonmail.com. Enter your credentials to access your account.

  2. Add the sender to your contacts:

From the main inbox page, click on the email you want to receive regularly. Hover over the sender’s email address and click on the “Add to Contacts” option. This action helps ensure that emails from this sender are recognized as safe.

Tip: Adding senders to your contact list can automatically mark them as trusted.

  3. Create a filter to keep emails from specific senders in the inbox:
    1. Click on the Settings gear icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
    2. Select Filters from the sidebar menu.
    3. Click on the Add Filter button.
    4. In the filter creation options, enter the email address of the sender you wish to allow in the From field.
    5. Under the Action section, choose Move to Inbox.
    6. Click Save to apply the filter.

This filter will ensure that any email from this address is automatically sent to your inbox.

  4. Whitelist specific email addresses or domains:

Go to Settings > Filters > Spam Filters. Enter the email addresses or domains you want to whitelist in the Allowed Senders and Domains field. Click Save to update your settings.

Tip: Whitelisting entire domains ensures you receive all emails from within that domain.

By following these steps, you can control which emails are marked as safe and easily manage the flow of important messages to your inbox in ProtonMail.
